Peter Sinon
Welcome to paradise and be at home away from home with me, Peter, as your host. A Development Economist graduating from the University of East Anglia in the UK, my career has propelled me to diplomacy as the first resident High Commissioner for the Republic of Seychelles to the Republic of South Africa. I then spent 6 years in Tunis as Alternate and eventually Executive Director for the African Development Bank. Upon my return, I was called to the Cabinet of Ministers as the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries, Industry, and Investment from 2010 to 2014. Over those years, hosting and being hosted was very much part of my life. Now I just feel like doing it for real and for me and my guests – so welcome!
All four self-catering apartments have been certified by the Seychelles Public Health Authority, complying with strict Coronavirus prevention measures. Located at Au Cap, just a 15-minute drive from the Seychelles International Airport, each apartment is air-conditioned, with unlimited broadband connection, a very spacious bedroom, kitchen, living room, and bathroom and toilet. From the balcony of three apartments, you can enjoy fantastic ocean views – the fourth apartment enjoys a partial sea view. Au Cap beach is only a 5-minute walk from Dar & Douce. Mostly deserted during weekdays, the white sandy beach with its turquoise blue ocean is protected by a reef. The closest small shop to Dar & Douce is a 5-minute walk away, with larger shops and supermarkets only a 5-10 minute drive away.
Domaine Val de Pres (Craft Village), with a traditional creole house on display, is only a 5-minute walk from Dar and Douce apartments. Lunch is served every day in the Pomme Canelles restaurant, and multiple sales outlets are managed and operated by artists and artisans who produce the craft items, which can be viewed and/or purchased. La Plaine Ste Andre hosts a traditional Creole Plantation house, which is now a restaurant, and the Takamaka Rum distillery. A visit to the distillery to taste and shop for the island’s most popular rum can be combined with lunch or a return in the evening for dinner at the main restaurant. Anse Royale is just a 10-minute drive from the apartments and hosts one of Seychelles’ most popular beaches with the much-frequented beach-side Kafe Kreol Restaurant. Kafe Kreol Restaurant and Bar comes highly recommended for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or to spend the day sipping cocktails while on the beach. The smallest capital in the world, Victoria, is a 30-minute drive from Dar and Douce. From there, one can catch the ferry to Praslin and La Digue Islands, the second and third most populated islands of the archipelago.
